Ms. Cleo Petway, 94, of Phenix City, AL died Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM EST on Friday, June 14, 2019, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Ken Beard, Rev. Chris Clark and Rev. Danny Ryals officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home.
Ms. Petway was born July 7, 1924, in Cottonwood, AL, daughter of the late William E. Petway and Ethel Green Petway. She worked for Purdue Upholstery for many years servicing the automotive and furniture industries. Mrs. Petway also worked for Swift Mills. She attended Collins Chapel Baptist Church in Malone, FL. Additionally, she loved gardening, cooking and sewing.
Other than her parents, Ms. Petway was preceded in death by a son, George Michael Aster; four sisters, Lottie Ducker, Pauline Peters, Willie Parker and Mamie Harrison; a granddaughter, Kelli Aster.
Ms. Petway is survived by her daughter, Teresa Bellone of Smiths Station, AL; grandchildren, Matthew Bellone and Michael Aster; one great-grandchild, Ellyssa Aster; several other family members and friends, as well as her beloved dog “Lucky”.
