Thelma Brownell Vance, 98, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Parkwood Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA on Friday, October 18, 2019 beginning at 1:00 PM with Rev. Norman Garrison officiating. The interment will conclude at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vance Brooks Funeral Home Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Thelma was born on November 16, 1920 in Alexander City, AL to the late William and Erlunion Yarbrough. She was a Towels Inspector at Field Crest Mills retiring after 40 years of dedicated service. Thelma lived her life for the Lord. She was passionate about reading the Bible and faithfully attended First Assembly of God in Phenix City, AL. Her servant’s heart was readily seen as she found ways to help others. She enjoyed cooking and baking and would use these gifts to bring smiles to her family and friends. There is no doubt that this exceptional woman has left a legacy here on Earth. She will be greatly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who love her dearly.
Other than her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Roy Olene Vance; daughter, Faye Rhodes; son, Bobby Joe Vance; grandson, Kenneth Rhodes; and her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Peggy Cannon of Columbus, GA, Marilyn Stripling of Augusta, GA, Charlotte Blaxton of Guntersville, AL, and Royce Ann Adkins (Bob) of Seale, AL; son, Robert Vance (Sarah) of Phenix City, AL; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
